FRAGMENTATION BOMBS:
A bomb with only 10 to 20 per cent explosive and the remainder consisting of casings designed to break into many small high-velocity fragments; most effective against troops and vehicles. Fragmentation bombs, explode into a mass of small, fast-moving metal fragments that are lethal against personnel. The bomb case consists of wire wound around an explosive charge. Their effect of blast represents an extra interest.
These bombs are mainly used agains troup concentrations and destruction of planes on the ground. An aerial antipersonnel bomb that scatters shrapnel over a wide area upon explosion.
