VICTIMS

The number of the victims of the bombardment varies according to sources:

CIVILIANS:

- According to Biarritz Town Hall report : 145 dead.
- According to Sud-Ouest Newspaper of 28th march 1944 : 127 dead and 255 wounded.
- According to Jean Bruno in the Newspaper L’Eclair des Pyrénées of 27th May 1987: 109.
- In the “Monument aux Victimes Civiles de la Guerre 1939-1945”: 109 dead


- The same Bruno indicates later 117 dead , 250 wounded,
- In “Bombes sur Biarritz,” M. J. Bellay : Dead: 115 civilians: 57 women, 54 men and 4 children.
- Seriously wounded and hospitalised : 122, out of which 33 died.
- Sud-Ouest of 30th March 1944 : over 100 dead.

GERMANS:

- The number of Germans killed has never been ascertained.
- Jean Bruno : 39 coffins in Biarritz and more than 100 at the airfield.
- Wade Hull : From the reports we got back after the mission it seems that we did a pretty good job of hitting the target, for I understood that it was graduation day for a great number of German pilots who had just finished their training.
