ATTLEBRIDGE
By the way, when we returned from Biarritz the landing gear collapsed and the plane skidded to a halt down the runway, never to fly again. I spent the rest of my flying time of 28 missions total, and each one was with a different crew.

Any time that someone was hurt or sick I was chosen to be the replacement for him. I was wounded again on my 13th mission, which was over the town of Saarbrucken. That was on the 28th of June.

Nine days in the hospital again and I was back in the air again. I still had a bandage on my face where the shrapnel had hit me, and I had to cut a little piece out of my oxygen mask to get it around the bandage. Luckily the wound didn't leave a scar.
