I do remember the Biarritz raid. When they showed us the target at briefing, I was surprised at such a long mission. I believe they told us that, if we did not have enough gasoline to get back to Norwich, we were to stop at some British airbase and refuel. Fortunately, I made it all the way. I do not remember our having any fighter or flak trouble.

Biarritz is right on the water, and our target was near the edge of the water.

I recall turning around over water and heading back toward England. I do not remember if we dropped the bombs before the turn-around, or just afterwards. I also do not remember what the target was, but I do remember that the weather was good..

This was probably our longest mission ever. Friedrickshaven was nearly as long

From 20,000 feet, it looked like a beautiful city.
